Garfield Minus Garfield

augustshim:

Garfield Minus Garfield is a site dedicated to removing Garfield from the Garfield comic strips in order to reveal the existential angst of a certain young Mr. Jon Arbuckle. It is a journey deep into the mind of an isolated young everyman as he fights a losing battle against loneliness and depression in a quiet American suburb.

Love is Blindness - Jack White

Jack White is great, but I seriously hope they don’t have anachronisms in the actual Great Gatsby movie.

Finals. My tumblr is going to appear a bit sparse for the next two weeks.

Congratulations to Junior Dos Santos for retaining the UFC Heavyweight Championship by defeating Frank Mir.

Cain Velasquez has clearly made a statement by his dominating win over Antonio Silva. Let’s see Junior Dos Santos v Cain Velasquez, Part II, happen now!

all my summer clothes are in Irvine…

I could either:
1) wear winter clothes in Taiwan (fml)
2) buy new shit and get owned by parents (fml)

Microsoft Worlds
, a virtual environment like so many others, is separated from the rest by its subtly sinister tone and dominance in
paranormal lore and /x/ creepypasta.

This seemingly peaceful 90’s internet playground is rumored to house a cult-like order. As user cheesoisuncool describes:

“They wear similar avatars, stalk players and send disturbing and vague messages. They appear to have control over other players and aren’t bound by the maps of the game. None of the other regulars acknowledge their existence.”

Moreover, a search of “Microsoft Worlds” through conventional search engines like Google don’t return any pertinent results. The software is easily accessible, but concealed from the public eye. (Message me if you want a download link.)

In this video, “Vinny” explores a relic from the internet’s past.

An adapted reblog.

One of the most bizarre and hilarious videos I have ever found.

This guy, on a livestream, goes on the old microsoft worlds servers where a group of users disturbingly seem to have been waiting since the 90s for newcomers to show around the place.

I am legitimately freaked out by this. I fully believe that some pure evil force created this, and whoever plays it is cursed with inevitable damnation.

This is like LSD became an MMO and, by some miracle of Satan, it managed to become creepier. Like, a LOT creepier.

Allowing Testosterone While Punishing Marijuana Use Does MMA No Favors

It took the Nevada State Athletic Commission roughly 40 minutes to decide that Chael Sonnen should be given permission to inject himself with testosterone in the weeks before a title fight with UFC champ Anderson Silva this summer. It took the same regulatory body about three hours to decide that Nick Diaz should pay for his marijuana use with a year-long suspension and 30 percent of his last fight purse.

If you think those decisions made the sport of mixed martial arts cleaner and/or safer, then I want to know where you got that prescription for whatever it is you’re smoking.

This is exactly what I wanted to write about yesterday. I’m glad I didn’t, because MMAFighting has covered it very well. The UFC is currently in a jumbled mess with testosterone abuse, marijuana, and a DUI. I hope it gets sorted out soon, but it must be done appropriately.

Jon Jones apologizes for DUI

UFC Light Heavyweight champion, Jon “Bones” Jones, has released his first public statement on Facebook following last weekend’s DUI accident with his Bentley.

I had mixed feelings when I read this apology.

Although he addresses his mistakes, he seems to be more concerned about his own condition than anything else. Jones starts off the first two paragraphs by criticizing the haters who “try to kick [him] while [he’s] down,” and then thanks the people who have shown him support.

When Jones received sponsorship from the UFC a month ago, he stated, “I think that they trust that I’ll never make them look bad. You never have to worry about me with a DWI or doing something crazy” (MMAWeekly). In situational irony, Jones also participated in a UFC Bud Light “Drink Responsibly” Commercial (screenshot).

To be honest, I don’t think he appreciates the severity of his mistake. Kick him while he’s down? Jones is the perpetrator here, not the victim. As such, he should be treated with the appropriate disdain. Is this too harsh?

My final question is whether Jones, the poster boy of the UFC, will or should be suspended from the UFC for a duration of time. After all, Nick Diaz, who did nothing but smoke weed, has now been suspended for a year (BloodyElbow). Surely, Jones’ crime is more egregious. What do you think?

I still can’t get over the fact that my three favorite seniors are coming to Chicago next year. :3
